On October 17, 2017, EIRP and the Center for the National Interest organized a panel discussion of nuclear energy and nuclear weapons in the twenty-first century.

Samuel Thernstrom moderated the meeting, with speakers including Laura Holgate, a former Obama Administration non-proliferation official, Kenneth Luongo, President of the Partnership for Global Security, Jack Spencer, Vice President of the Heritage Foundation Institute for Economic Freedom and Opportunity, and Tristan Volpe, a Non-Resident Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
