Panel Discussion of Clean Energy and Strategic Competition in the Indo-Pacific Region

On December 14, 2022, EIRP and the Center for the National Interest co-sponsored an online panel discussion of clean energy and geopolitical competition in the Indo-Pacific region.

EIRP President Paul Saunders assessed the Biden Administration’s Indo-Pacific Economic Framework and its energy and climate initiatives. He also summarized findings from EIRP’s new report:  Toward an Indo-Pacific Clean Energy Framework and from EIRP’s U.S.-Japan-South Korea dialogue on energy and geopolitics.

Other panelists included Michael Auslin, Payson J. Treat Distinguished Research Fellow in Contemporary Asia at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University; Douglas C. Hengel, senior consultant to LNG Allies, a visiting senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and a former deputy assistant Secretary of State for energy, sanctions, and commodities; and Eunjung Lim,  associate professor of international studies and vice president of international affairs at Kongju National University.

Jacob Heilbrunn, editor of The National Interest, moderated the discussion.
